Erin McCartney is the Managing Bankruptcy Attorney in our Irvine office. She has over 8 years of experience representing clients in bankruptcy related matters. Prior to joining the firm, Ms. McCartney practiced as one of the highest single volume and billing bankruptcy attorneys in the state of Nebraska. She specialized in complex bankruptcy matters relating to all Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 proceedings, including motions for relief, preference avoidance actions, adversary proceedings and Chapter 13 plan confirmation trials. Ms. McCartney also successfully argued an appeal before the 8th Circuit Bankruptcy Appellate Panel, which created new precedent on lien avoidance. While practicing in Nebraska, she also served on the Nebraska Court’s Bankruptcy Practice Committee and the Nebraska Bankruptcy Court’s Mediation Committee.

Mrs. McCartney is admitted to practice in the State of California, the State of Nebraska, the U.S. District Court for the State of Nebraska, and the U.S. District Court for the State of California in the Northern, Central, Southern and Eastern Districts. Mrs. McCartney served as the President for the Nebraska State Bar Association, Bankruptcy Section for the 2013-2014 terms. Ms. McCartney is a member of the Nebraska State Bar and the California State Bar Associations.

In 2002, Mrs. McCartney received her Bachelor of Science in Political Science from Bradley University in Peoria, IL. In 2007, she earned her Juris Doctor degree from Ave Maria School of Law in Ann Arbor, MI. While attending Ave Maria, she also obtained experience in a broad scope of legal practices through internships at The Thomas More Law Center, the Public Defender’s Office and FirstComp Insurance Company.
