Erin McCartney is a Managing Partner at ZBS Law, LLP where she oversees the firm’s bankruptcy practice. She has over 14 years of extensive experience representing clients in all bankruptcy related matters. She specializes in complex contested matters relating to all Chapter 7, Chapter 13 and Chapter 11 proceedings, including confirmation of reorganization plans, motions for relief, preference avoidance actions and adversary proceedings. Ms. McCartney successfully argued appeals before the 8th and 9th Circuit Bankruptcy Appellate Panels. Most notably, Ms. McCartney argued an appeal in the 8th Circuit which created new precedent on lien avoidance actions. Ms. McCartney has trained several large financial institutions on various bankruptcy related matters and regularly contributes relevant articles to industry periodicals for publication. Ms. McCartney also engages and participates in industry conferences as an attendee and as a speaker participant.
Prior to joining ZBS Law, LLP, Ms. McCartney practiced as one of the highest single volume and billing bankruptcy attorneys in the state of Nebraska. Ms. McCartney served on the Nebraska Court’s Bankruptcy Practice Committee and the Nebraska Bankruptcy Court’s Mediation Committee.

Ms. McCartney is admitted to practice in the State of California, the State of Nebraska, the U.S. District Court for the State of Nebraska, and the U.S. District Court for the State of California in the Northern, Central, Southern and Eastern Districts. She served as the President for the Nebraska State Bar Association, Bankruptcy Section for the 2013-2014 term. Ms. McCartney is a member of the Nebraska State Bar and the California State Bar Associations.

In 2002, Mrs. McCartney received her Bachelor of Science in Political Science from Bradley University in Peoria, IL. In 2007, she earned her Juris Doctor degree from Ave Maria School of Law in Ann Arbor, MI. While attending Ave Maria, she also obtained experience in a broad scope of legal practices through internships at The Thomas More Law Center, the Public Defender’s Office and FirstComp Insurance Company.
